Teaching under the microscope webinar 2019
Auktoriserade Språkutbildares Riksorganisation (ASR) is pleased to invite teachers, training managers, learners, consultants and other stakeholders to an exclusive webinar on the teaching and assessment of integrated skills in language training for professionals. Following the success of our workshop with Thom Kiddle in November 2018, we have invited him to build further on some of the key points he raised.
Are we really teaching, or just providing opportunities for practice?
Teaching under the microscope.
In November 2018, in a workshop for ASR members in Stockholm, I posed the question of how confident we feel as teachers that we are actually teaching language skills, rather than merely providing opportunities for practice among students. We focused on Reading skills and whether an integrated approach to skills development provides a way to tackle the problem. This webinar continues the theme, looking at how the teaching of Listening can usefully be integrated with work on the skills of Speaking and Writing, and how teaching those two ‘productive’ skills can be informed and influenced by more than just setting up situations for communicative tasks.
Don’t miss this hands-on opportunity to learn more about how we can apply the latest theories and research into the teaching, learning and assessment of integrated skills and how recent enhancements of The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) take this into account. The webinar will be led by Thom Kiddle, a leading international expert on the teaching and assessment of integrated skills.
